Kenya’s colonial history
Kenya’s colonial history dates back to 1885, when the Germans established a protectorate over the Sultan of Zanzibar’s coastal region.
A British Company, Imperial, arrived in 1888 and was handed the coastal area by German in 1890. The British introduced the building of the Kenya Uganda railway, which brought a lot of protest from the locals, especially Nandi.
