Masai Mara Safari

6 Days

Overview

A Masai mara safari is a rewarding adventure. Kenya is blessed with so much natural wealth, making it the best holiday destination in Africa. Moreover, Kenya has unspoiled natural surroundings, such as the animal migration, Mt Kenya, the big five, birds’ paradise, the sun-kissed beaches of Mombasa and Malindi, and the spectacular landscapes. With so much natural wealth, no wonder Kenya has something for everyone.

The masai mara safari
Maasai Mara safari park is one of the most popular tourist destinations in East Africa. However, the reserve is primarily open grassland in the Great Rift Valley. Consequently, wildlife tends to concentrate most on the reserve’s western escarpment.

The Masai Mara is the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. The annual wildebeest migration alone involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in mid-July and departing in mid-November.
Several mammal and bird species have been recorded in the Masai mara reserve. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, so visitors hardly miss seeing the big five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino). However, wildebeest are by far the Maasai Mara dominant inhabitants. As a result, the Masai Mara is home to incredible wildlife.

Their numbers are estimated in the millions. The Great Migration starts in mid-July each year when well over one million wildebeest and large numbers of other wildlife migrate from the Serengeti plains in Tanzania to fresh pastures in the north and then back south again in mid-November.

Drive along the great rift valley to Masai mara safari park, which borders Serengeti national park in Tanzania. Afternoon safari drive. Retire for the night at a lodge/camp.

A full day will be spent viewing wildlife across the rich, tree-studded grassland and rolling hills. (optional balloon ride at extra US$450 per ride) Masai Mara is renowned for its great herd of plain game, Lion, Leopard, and Cheetah. Masai Mara has virtually every type of wildlife to be found in Kenya. Retire for the meals and overnight at a lodge/camp.

Full-day wildlife viewing. Optional visits to Masai villages in the afternoon or taking nature walks accompanied by Masai Morans. Meals and overnight at a lodge/camp.

Early morning safari drive. After breakfast, drive along the great rift valley to Lake Naivasha. Located in western Kenya, Lake Naivasha is a large freshwater lake just outside Naivasha town. At 1,884m, Lake Naivasha is the highest lake within the Great Rift Valley. Afternoon boat ride to the other side of the Island. Retire for the night at a lodge/camp.

After breakfast, proceed in the great rift valley to Lake Nakuru safari park, home to millions of birds and wildlife. Afternoon visit the bird sanctuary and likely to spot a lion hunting along the lake. White rhinos are also spotted here. Retire for the day at one of the lodges/camps for meals and overnight.

After the early morning safari drive, return to your lodge/camp for breakfast, then return to Nairobi.
